Today we are talking about population control and the increasing burden on available resources. Why is there an approval process to adopt a child and yet nothing that says who can and cannot make a child? Have you ever thought about this? Well that’s why we are here for you.

We are discussing accidental pregnancy as well as the cost of educating these children and who should bear how much of that cost. When you stop to think about it, why don’t we as a society monitor who gets to fill the world with more stupid people that will likely continue the process. It has to stop!

If you disagree, too bad, get your own show and tell people what you think. Or you could let us know and we will listen to your side and maybe discuss it openly. Give it a shot we dare you to have an opinion and share it with the world.

When the 21st of December comes around there may well be an end to what we know as the world. This has caused continued speculation about what may happen and how it might happen. We, as you might expect, have our opinion too. Will it be destruction on a global level all at once, or a slow drawn out process? Will there be catastrophic weather occurrences and natural disasters? Well we’re gonna touch on that as well.

This discussion leads us into areas of philosophical and scientific realms and we come out at the end with a new meaning of slave owner. It’s not what you might expect unless you’re a long time listener. We discuss the movie 2012 vs what we think about the end of days and where we want to be. We even discuss the nature of gravity and its role in keeping things together.

As you might imagine we have a few things to say about the process of ending and our own theories, but we would like to hear your thoughts. Do you think there will be an end on 12/21/12? How will it begin and end? Where do you want to be in the end, and after?

Lastly, we want to know will you do any Christmas shopping before the 22nd? Thanks for listening in and let us know what you think. It’s important to our success that you continue to chime in with comments. We are looking for a candidate for our first call in segment. Do you want to a guest on the MindMerge? Let us know soon.

This weeks episode addresses the issues of depression and the ways some of us are taught to deal with it. We all go through times when things just bring us down. At those times we define our character by how we persevere. Is it right to reach for a snack when you feel a bit down? Well it can be a good thing, and it may also be wrong. If you’re already overweight, and reaching for a sweet snack is your answer then it may well be your problem too.

We call it comfort food to make ourselves feel better about being addicted to the feelings brought on by elevated sugar levels. In reality we might want to begin referring to it as crack! There is a n addiction out there that’s as bad as drugs, it’s food. More precisely junk food, like donuts or cake that are dragging us down. How about just having some fruit, nah, I want a donut.

If you want to have a good feeling, try throwing down a box of donuts. Maybe a chocolate cake will make you feel better. It helps me out most of the time. I don’t mind feeling fat sometimes, it’s good for my self image. So join us in a collective shout “I’m not fat I’m hungry”!!! Find something to feel bad about and use it to justify a sweet treat. Welcome to the rest of your fat ass life.

Greetings MindMerge listeners, today we have something new for you. No summary of our show, not even a mention of the topic. Instead I’m going to tell you what I think right now. Bagels are an art and as such should be left to professionals. Shape alone does not make bread a bagel. Breakfast included with a room should be hot, at least when it’s food that is traditionally eaten hot.

If bacon is soggy and drippy then it’s not really bacon it’s a sloppy drippy imitation of bacon. Bacon should be served hot and at least close to crispy. Little cinnamon buns are ok with a lousy breakfast but there should be enough to go around at least once. OK I Just got another one, who cares if I had to fight an old woman for it.

There is something to be said for good multigrain bread. Some toast can go a long way toward filling the hole that I found in my gut this morning. Yeah right, it’s good but there’s still a hole. Is it possible for people to actually like this? I think it’s a ploy by the owners to keep breakfast costs down by providing food that only a ravenous creature would eat much of. I feel compelled to eat as much as I can just to spite them.

In truth though the place is comfortable and centrally located and our hosts have been very good to us. My only complaint is with the breakfast, which I had looked forward to, that is hardly worth mentioning. Let me know what you think of the new test format here and enjoy the show.

Thanks,

Well here we are again. After a break for the Memorial Day weekend to honor our heroes the MindMerge is back with some really serious stuff for you to consider. We live in a world where we are taught to behave in certain ways, and we exist in a hierarchy that dictates who gets what and how much. Now consider that scenario and how it will be impacted by the approaching zombie apocalypse.

In this episode we are laying out our thoughts on the social etiquette and hierarchy that will come to fruition at the onset of the zombie apocalypse. We are contrasting what Hollywood had told us about zombies with what we have determined to be more likely. We are defining death for you in a way that makes “undead” make more sense.

We have discussed the possible diminishing brain functions of older zombies, and how that too could affect the hierarchy. How about zombie pets? Or Zombies as pets? We cover those as well. There is also a question from one of our listeners which sparked this discussion “do zombies think and do they communicate among themselves?” Well we decided to cover bodily functions also just to expand on that.

Whatever your thoughts on the impending doom of the zombie apocalypse, there is useful information here for you. If you’re a zombie sympathizer, well take cover you too may be shot if not clearly distinguishable. On the other hand if you’re looking for some fun and have weapons to defend yourself, then maybe you’ll join us at the after victory party when we celebrate the elimination of the zombies and the dispelling of Hollywood’s myths.

Thanks for the questions and we will try to cover all of them in the future so keep em coming. Don’t forget to spread the word, this is important stuff and when the apocalypse comes there won’t be time to explain it your friends. Do the right thing for humanity and for yourself; pass this on, it just may save a life.

Well here we are again, we had a great topic to discuss and found ourselves wandering. Although we wandered slightly we did manage to cover the material and expand on it as well. There are guidelines all around us every day, when we follow them we all get along. When some people decide to disregard those guidelines things go awry.

Specifically we’re talking about line on the road. What do they mean and why do so many people seem ignorant about them? We are exploring just this and more. If you have ever been annoyed by people who seem to have no concern for the rules and throw them aside because they are in a hurry, join us for a discussion about them.

What are the costs involved in implementing these rules and why do we continue to spend money on them? There seems to be little in the way of enforcement, and some really stupid ideas continue to flourish in spite of the obvious (to us) lack of logic behind them. We believe that things like “round-a-bouts” are ridiculous and should be gone.

Pretending to have a reason to control traffic, like pseudo safety, just to slow things down is also expensive and should be done away with. The savings might be better applied to educating people in what it means to follow rules of the road. Check out

http://mindmergepodcast.com/?p=166

for more on a possible solution to stupid drivers.

This metaphor can be applied to just about anything that large groups of humans take part in. The point here is people are inconsiderate for the most part when they feel the privacy of being in their own car. The solace gives them freedom to behave poorly. Let’s spread this around and maybe we can all have some effect on the future of human interactions.

This episode is somewhat of a deviation from what we have been endeavoring to accomplish. We ended up taking a bit of a tangent part way through but you might like where we ended up. Our original topic was simply should we let natural selection run its course? Somewhere along the way we strayed. If you believe that natural selection should be the driving force behind our development as a species then check this episode out! If you don’t think it should then go away somewhere else and stay with the people that want to be kept alive regardless of their contribution to society or their quality of life.

We live in a time when too many people crowd the earth and for some reason we spend incredible resources trying to extend the time some of them get to be here. On top of that drug companies (dealers) have now gone around doctors to tell people that they have a pill to solve almost every ailment. All you need to do these days is watch television for a while and you’re likely to find a pill that’s designed to solve whatever problem you think you’ve been convinced that you have. Next you can just go to the doctor and tell them what pill you want. Great life huh? Get a grip people, wake up, these people are robbing you of your life.

We are also going to tell you why we need a drunken driving law and why we don’t need a seatbelt law, and how the media gets your approval and backing for a given law and then runs it through the system. Before you know it you have helped them take away just a bit more personal freedom, and sooner or later they will get around to something you don’t want them to take away, then what? Anyway that’s how we got off track, see how easy that was? So join in and let us know what you have on your mind.

If you have no idea how or why people can become so entranced by a presidential candidate that they would believe the things that person promises then this is the MindMerge episode for you. This discussion began as a question about past and recent candidates and turned into our analysis of the system in general.

We cover everything from mudslinging to campaign funding in our attempt to find some kind of understanding. It doesn’t seem to matter one’s name, religion, sex or even color we as Americans get the same result. Empty promises and misleading media propaganda have become the norm. When did candidates stop having their own thoughts and become talking heads?

We think that the people are to blame. We as sheep in the herd have allowed this slow transformation from a time when our president was capable of rallying the troops, and rebuilding the country economically all while understanding the needs of the people. We also found that it seems pointless to have so much government spending outside of the country. Finally, we discuss the possibility of isolationism. We found that to be a likely solution that it is likely no one will like.

Our president is not our King. We feel that many candidates begin the run for the roses with true ideals in mind. When those dreams are caught by enough people to gain them a victory the reality of politics as usual dashes those dreams to shreds and in most cases leaves history to interpret the outcome of a failed administration.

With that being said, I invite you to join us for another trip into our minds. We would like to thank you bringing us this far into our experiment, and look forward to continuing to grow our audience. Thanks to you the word is getting out.

Enjoy,

Knowing that we don’t know anything about what is truly being done by the people in our government and that the way they seem to throw funds around at things that most citizens don’t care about or benefit from makes some of us want to opt out. There are some things that seem beneficial such as maintaining a military for protection, or highways for transportation. Some things however seem a bit over costly. The space program, for instance, should be privatized.

Health care is another chance for people to complain about what the government does, or doesn’t do. If the government took over health care they would screw it up much as they do with most things. If people need health care and cannot afford it the government could loan them money for care that would have to be repaid. This idea of the government providing “free” health care is first not free and secondly would not be as good as care provided by professionals making a living from their work.

Taxes are something that the government needs to do to continue to generate working funds. Tax money should be spent more efficiently. Why do we pay politicians? Is it because WE want them to be around forever, or because they want to continue to milk the system? The federal government is too far removed from most of the country to be able to know what anyone really needs or wants. Let’s pass most of the governing to more local levels, and reduce the opportunity for lifelong representatives in the federal government to grow old in an office that is filled with corruption.

If you agree we would like to hear from you and if you don’t agree we suggest you re-evaluate your position. The status quo has got to go if we are to move ahead toward a more efficient government. Let’s opt out of the BS and send a message to the PIC that we don’t want them reaching our pockets anymore.

Greetings MindMerge Participants,

Today marks the release of our tenth show. That’s our first milestone and you deserve it. We hope you enjoy this one and look forward to your comments.

Some of the finest moments can be spoiled by gas. Where does it come from? Many people have a problem expressing themselves, but it can be liberating. It can also be fun to find a way into other people’s lives. Sometimes people can be so annoying that they deserve a bit of gas. When you have the opportunity to make a mark on someone’s life, take the chance.

Where do these opportunities come from? Is it just from what you eat? Or maybe just how you eat the foods you eat. It’s possible that the chemicals in today’s foods have something to do with how the body processes food. Is it a personal effect related to a disorder? Doubtful!

If we eat slower will we brew less gas? After the show we will be accepting alternating views on the subject. Let us know what you think and we will put them together as a follow up show. This is your chance to be a part of the experiment in a direct way. Help us put you on the air and get to voice your opinion.

Don’t forget to pass the word around. Our audience is growing and you don’t want your friends to be left out.

Homelessness is a problem in almost every corner of the world. We have a new take on solving this problem. Our solution is cheap, nightly lodging to keep people who live on the streets out of the elements. It would provide a sense of home, in that it’s not a shelter with other people around. We have considered safety and security as well as portability to keep with the idea of street life being sort of roaming.

We are not proposing a hand out by any means. Those who are fortunate enough to be able to take advantage of this solution will earn the right to do so.

What we are proposing are inflatable homes for the homeless. It’s not a solution designed to clean up the streets by hiding the homeless away in a shelter. What it is designed to do is provide reasonable shelter and protection from the elements. At the same time, give them a sense of purpose by making them earn this shelter through some sort of community service.

They would be required to continue to earn the right to keep the shelter by staying clean and sober throughout participation in the program. These are not to be anything too comfortable; conversely, they will be just a simple step up from the sidewalk. There’s no incentive in allowing too much comfort.

Do you think it’s a viable plan? Listen in and let us know. Feel free to comment, and maybe we’ll have you on the show to share your opinions.

Greetings everyone,

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for getting us this far along our experiment. We have accomplished quite a bit so far. There’s so much more to try but we still need your help. We are bringing in an average of 58 hits a day and getting 200 + unique visits a month but at the risk of sounding greedy we need more That said, we do appreciate the loyalty and truly hope you’re enjoying the show.

In this episode we discuss the concept of having robot employees. There are many advantages to replacing workers with robots and we tried to hit as many as we could think of at the time. Temporary workers could be implemented on the spot if a key employee quit with no notice. Having workers that are punctual, efficient, and responsible all at the same time seems impossible, but if they were electronic and could remove emotion and distraction from the day’s tasks they would likely prove themselves in no time.

As usual there will likely be those among our audience that will feel that the idea will lead to fewer jobs. They would be correct, in that particular job category there would be fewer jobs. The same amount of work would be accomplished with less labor costs and therefore provide the consumer with a better value long term. Also, the creation of a virtually new species of workers would inevitably create a whole new need for highly skilled labor.

These robot employees would need to be designed, improved, updated, maintained and repaired by a new work force, until we could replace them as well. Each time we enter a new level of robotic skills the support staff would need to improve also. We feel that the punctual, responsible, non-distracted robot employee would also be one of the safest. Although we are still stumbling on issues such as power source and long term storage, we feel this concept has more pros than cons.

In this episode we are discussing the moral and practical questions around the idea of human euthanasia. Life is fragile and can sometimes be difficult. We all have times when we face insurmountable obstacles, and yet we find ways to overcome them. When time catches up with us we are faced with the ultimate adversary in life, death. No one can beat it, but should we be able to choose, in certain circumstances, how we go out?

We are all here for a limited time; let’s try to be happy with that time. When illness or injury, or just really old age, make life a burden then you should be able to make a plan for getting out. Is it really a good idea to hang on as long as possible in a losing effort just so people can make money from your sticking around? Would it be more useful to allocate those funds to an organization that might make a difference after your gone? Just think past your age old brainwashing and beliefs for a moment; let’s look at this from a logical standpoint.

When you have an old anything, and it gets worn out, do you just keep throwing money at it just so you don’t have to say goodbye? You’re just delaying the inevitable, and supporting someone at the same time. Let’s all agree, here and now, that we will not allow the haphazard health care system to use our diminishing lives as a means to boost the statistics of how many they say they save.

In this episode we are discussing the concept of cars that drive themselves. Lets face it, people are not good drivers. Most people think that they are, and that is where it gets dangerous. A daily commute to work is likely the most dangerous thing most people do most often. I have been hearing about “the other guy” on the road forever. When people want to express the danger of driving in bad weather they often say something like “I’m not worried about me, it’s the other guy that worries me”. Well guess what, in many of those cases you are the other guy to someone else.

Mass transportation has some advantages and certainly removes most of the human element; however, there are limited destinations and restrictive schedules to deal with. So what if we combine the best of both worlds into a vehicle that you could program to take you where you want to go and then just sit back and enjoy the ride. Everyone around you would be doing the same thing and the control systems would have to obey traffic laws and such so you needn’t worry about “the other guy” anymore. You arrive at your destination relaxed and ready to take on the day.

We will discuss the options available (ok some of them), and pros and cons along the way. With any luck you’ll be convinced, by the end, that we have a great idea here. We’ve combined safety, convenience, and comfort in a vehicle that will revolutionize transportation as we have known it for decades, while still providing the hands on access to control that paranoid users would like to retain.

Well then, if you would like to know more about how to change the world check out this episode. As always feel free to leave a comment (good or bad) in the field below, or send us an Email at feedback@mindmergepodcast.com and let us know how we’re doing.

This episode is a discussion about geothermal energy. With global climate change becoming such a hot topic of debate, we couldn’t help wondering why no one seems to be discussing geothermal as an option. Is geothermal energy likely to cause an entirely new cataclysm? Can the internal temperature of the Earth be affected by humans pulling heat out? We explain what we think are good reasons to support our positions.
If we assume that humans have affected the global temperature increase that we are told is occurring, is it likely that humans could reverse that process to a tipping point on the other side of the scale? Geothermal energy involves using the heat from the Earth as a means to moderate temperatures in homes and businesses without the use of fossil fuels. Is it possible to alter the temperature of the Earth, through geothermal energy use, beyond the point of control and thereby force the Earth into another Ice Age? We believe that we have the answer to that question and we had a lot of fun finding that answer.
If you think you’re smarter than us, and have more information that could be influential to our discussion, be sure to let us know. If you are completely new to the concept of Geothermal Energy then listen up and maybe you’ll learn something. If you get nothing else from this discussion understand that there are alternatives to what the mainstream media might be backing. As usual, we claim no expertise on this subject, nor do we care to be politically partisan in any way. It’s really just an interesting concept to think about, and we hope it will make you think as well.
So, if you want to have an effect on the temperature of the Earth, or just hear what we think about the idea of a Geothermal Ice Age, check out this episode.

This episode is a discussion about bad memories. Everyone has things in their past that they would like to forget, right? We are putting together some how’s, why’s, and even some why not’s on the subject. There are even some obscure references to what might be done with the removed memories.

Can you think of a memory that you would like to forget completely and forever? How would you decide what stays and what goes? Horrifying memories can have a lasting effect on those who possess them. Trust has to be of utmost importance when you allow someone to manipulate your mind. The machine that performs the procedure is very high tech as you might imagine.

We discuss the trust and security issues related to the concept of memory manipulation. Also, imagine if you could “see” what someone else lived. If a memory could be removed and then played back for others, you would be able to experience what happened without the after effects. Amazing right? Memories are learning tools though. We contemplate the possible downsides to removing a memory, and the learning that may fall without the memory to back it up.

Anyhow, if you think it’s a good idea to be able to remove bad memories, or if you have some you wish you could forget, check out this episode.

This episode is a discussion about relationships among couples, but not what you might think. Living together as a couple can be a trying and rewarding experience all at the same time. It’s well known that men and women think differently, and this is the perspective of two men on that subject. We discuss the trade-offs made in these relationships, both those of substance, and of behavior. It’s a kind of inside view of how we as men see the situations that occur and how we respond to them.

When you share time and space with someone it’s hard not to begin to assimilate some of each other’s traits. These changes are usually subtle, and require retrospective thought to see clearly. Everything from eating habits and furniture to listening and understanding are discussed. We offer no solutions, only observations.

If you are, or ever were in a couple type living situation we think you’ll relate. If you’re a man, we know you will relate, and to the female listeners we hope you’ll relate. If not you better set us straight with a comment or Email. We’d love to revisit this one day with a female perspective. <itunes:summary>This episode is a discussion about relationships among couples, but not what you might think.

In this episode we discuss the concept of a Spa/Restaurant. Think of it as a very relaxing experience with pampering and good food.

As we continue this experiment these summaries will likely become more in-depth. Right now I’m more concerned with making sure this all works.
